This is stated in the message on the website of the department.

It is noted that four ex-employees of the department for combating the illicit trafficking of heroin, synthetic drugs, psychotropic and potent substances of the Department of Internal Affairs Denis Konovalov, Akbar Sergaliev, Roman Feofanov, Maxim Umetbaev and former head of this department Igor Lyakhovets were detained.

The IC is conducting investigative actions with the detainees, and they will be charged with them in the near future. The issue of choosing a preventive measure for detainees will also be resolved.

According to the investigation, in June 2019, police put drugs in Golunov’s backpack and in his home with the aim of illegally prosecuting them.

“At the same time, narcotic drugs provided to the victim were previously illegally acquired by the police and also illegally stored and transported,” the ministry said.

Earlier, the UK said that investigators were interrogating five ex-police officers in the Golunov case.
