The Criminal Court of Appeals in the RAK Court ruled to reduce the sentence of a Gulf man who deliberately killed his wife from life imprisonment to 15 years imprisonment, and came in the operative verdict of the court, to accept the appeal in form and to cancel the appealed ruling, and to reject the appeal of the Public Prosecution and the judiciary again to punish the accused with 15 years imprisonment for Charge of murder against him and support otherwise.

The Court of First Instance ruled that the accused be sentenced to life imprisonment for the charges attributed to him, and obliged him to lead to the heirs of the victim 200,000 dirhams legal compensation, whereby the Public Prosecution appealed the ruling, and demanded that the appellant be punished with death, while obliging him to pay a heavy debt.

The prosecution charged that the accused intentionally killed the victim by pressing her face with a pillow with her breath intending to take her life and causing her injuries, and deliberately set fire to the food preparation room attached to the residence by delivering a flammable source of heat exposed in three separate pieces of fabric. It led to a fire on the site to mislead the justice and the victim’s condition to hide the evidence of the crime.

The witness in the case indicated that the differences between the accused and the victim began since the first week of their marriage, and that he used to infringe on the integrity of her body and tried to strangle her, and deliberately prevented her from visiting her family and not spending on her, which led her to sue him for divorcing her for harm.

She explained that on the day of the incident, a fight occurred between the accused and the victim, for refusing to accompany him to visit his family, and she continued that he intentionally killed her and fabricated the fire in order to hide the features of the crime because he did not envision her separating him or her marriage to others.

He pointed out that it had been proven from the facts of the victim's corpse by the pathologist that there were no burn marks or carbon deposits with breathing holes, which confirms that she was dead at the time of the fire and that the fire was fabricated to conceal the crime.
