As part of the savings made in Vilhelmina municipality, the high school in Dikanäs has been on the wallpaper. But on Wednesday, a unanimous committee decided not to go ahead with this and thus keep the school.

- It would have too big and severe consequences for a limited money, it is not worth it, says Jonny Kärkkäinen.

The board also decided to propose a council to retain the village schools Malgovik and Nästansjö. The council will decide on this in early March.

Proposal on staff reductions

On the other hand, the committee proposed to the council to discontinue preschool Vågen and make organizational changes at Volgsjö school, Hembergsskolan and Malgomajskolan.

- The children at the preschool Libra is accommodated in existing preschools in the urban area. We believe that we will still be within the limit value.

The organizational changes that are proposed, Kärkkäinen believes, are primarily about staff reductions and that 35 people may be affected by this.

- Those who quit first then become unauthorized and temporary. Those with credentials are best placed.
