Professor Alkistis Skalkidou at Uppsala University is up to date with a new research study on childbirth depression says that one in seven or eight women are expected to suffer sometime during pregnancy or after childbirth.

"Talk too little about birth depression"

One hit is Mikaela Törnvall from Gislaved who became a mother in September last year.

- There is too little talk about birth depression. It should be as natural as if you are suffering from other common illnesses, she says.

Research has shown that the relationship with the partner and also the children's psycho-emotional development are affected if the mother has a birth depression.
