22-year-old Amanda Wall has been studying Chinese at Wuhan University for two years. At present, they are only a few hundred students in the university field, as many were left on leave when the city of Wuhan was closed. Since six days back, permission is required for anyone who wants to travel there or leave the area.

The term start, which was due on February 17, has been postponed indefinitely.

- In the beginning, the mood was tense because we didn't know much about the virus or what it means to live in a closed city. But now most people have calmed down and we have solved a lot in terms of food and such stuff, says Amanda Wall.

"Feel safe"

The security measures are many in this area. Each time someone leaves or returns to campus, a guard tests their body temperature. The students have also been given medicine to boost their immune system. Ideally, they should not spend time with each other, but Amanda usually meets some friends with whom she feels safe.

- I feel safe where I am now because I have food every day and we have staff at the school who can take care of me. But when you are in a closed city and you do not know how long to have it like this, you want to go home.

If she is evacuated, it will quarantine either in another province in China or in Sweden according to the messages she received.

- But as I know it is something you discuss and plan. Nothing is determined when there will be an evacuation or if there will be an evacuation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is investigating the possibilities

Swedish Foreign Ministry has contact with about 15 Swedes in Wuhan. Discussions are held with other EU countries represented in China as well as with the Public Health Authority on a coordinated evacuation of EU citizens.

- It is important that there is an orderly process throughout the chain, including further transport and the need for follow-up health checks. That's what is going on now, says Buster Mirow Emitslöf at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Earlier today, a plane from France lifted. Later this week, another plane from France and another from Italy will lift towards Wuhan.

Every time the students want to go in or out of the building they live in, a check is made of their temperature.
