A total of 69 of the 1,070 vehicles in the Madrid Municipal Police fleet have been driving without insurance for the past 20 days. These are vans and motorcycles whose insurance expired on December 9 and was extended another month when they became the property of the City Council, as Sera Chain has advanced. Until that time they were in a renting regime and, according to the local government, still under insurance coverage. However, they stopped being from January 9 and since then and until yesterday Tuesday they have been working with them, in different security devices without anyone in the City Council has solved it. The Consistory learned of the problem after one of the patrols suffered a breakdown and had to call the crane.

The City Council ensures that it is an administrative error that has only affected 6.4% of the fleet. He also adds that some of these vehicles without insurance have not circulated these two weeks. "All those perfectly insured vehicles are already on the street after solving the administrative problem, solved without any consequences for anyone," added municipal sources.

This Tuesday the Consistory realized the error and ordered the urgent suspension of the circulation of these vehicles through an internal note of the General Directorate of the Municipal Police. It affected 18 vans, 12 of them from the Security Support Unit, 32 motorcycles serving the districts and 19 motorcycles from the special traffic unit. In the specific case of the security support unit, trade union sources say that all their vans were immobilized and cars were urgently requested from the districts until at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday a call was received from the Police Sub-Directorate Municipal, communicating that the problem had been solved.

From More Madrid they have pointed out to the Cadena Ser that the City Council has exposed both the Municipal Police and the citizens during this time since these cars have been used for all kinds of tasks, including some of the safety devices that have been put underway during these weeks in the capital.
