The City of Västerås and the Municipality of Köpings have previously applied to arrange the games together. But since neither they nor any of the other cities that applied then met all the criteria, the National Sports Federation (RF) announced that they would wait to appoint a host city.
Among other things, RF's changed criteria mean that only one host city should apply and that the focus is on event areas instead of main sports.
- For example, the city and in our case Rocklunda, Flygarängen and Johannisberg, explains Stefan Brandberg, Västerås city's sports manager.
The financing plan is the same as at the last application date - five million from the municipal council, one million from the committee.
