The Fujairah Appeals Court heard the case of two young Gulf men accused of nine charges, including driving recklessly at a speed of 160 km per hour, endangering road users, not obeying the orders of security men, collision with a police vehicle caused by two people injured, damaging two police vehicles, and taking psychotropic substance abuse. The court of first instance sentenced each of them to seven years in prison and 20,000 dirhams a fine.

The first defendant was driving his vehicle with the second defendant, and they received orders from police officers to stop, so the driver refused to comply, shocked the patrol and fled, which resulted in the injury of two policemen, and other police vehicles chased the suspects to the Emirate of Fujairah, and arrested them.

The court charged the first accused with nine charges, of driving recklessly at a speed of 160 km per hour, endangering the road goers at risk, not obeying the orders of the security men, collision with the police vehicle, causing injuries to two people, damaging two police vehicles, and psychotropic substance abuse and possession.

The two accused denied all the charges against them, and the second accused said that he was accompanied by his friend, did not drive the vehicle, and admitted to using narcotic substances, noting that the police vehicle was the one that shocked them, and he did not know that it was a police vehicle, as he did not appear to do so.

The lawyer of the first accused presented pleadings, requesting the defendant's innocence of the charges against him, noting that the defendants did not know that the police officers who were chasing them, based on witness statements in previous sessions, that the vehicles that chased the defendants did not appear to be police vehicles, and that they They did not use the speakers to stop them during the chase.

The lawyer demanded that the first accused be sponsored, after spending a year in custody, while the court postponed the verdict until next week.
