“Despite the ceasefire announced on January 12, 2020, the regime continues to carry out attacks in Idlib, killing innocent civilians, as well as forcing hundreds of thousands of people to leave their homes and migrate in winter conditions, which creates a serious humanitarian problem,” the TASS communiqué quotes.

The Turkish Defense Ministry emphasized that any attempt to undermine security in Idlib "will receive the most stringent response in the framework of self-defense."

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke about the agreement reached during negotiations with Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu to continue intensive work to separate the opposition and terrorists near Idlib.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also called on Russian leader Vladimir Putin to help stop the attacks in the de-escalation zone in Idlib.
