Academic Hospital backs SEK 543 million. But when the entire region's fiscal year is summed up, according to the so-called balance requirement, you land "only" at minus SEK 80 million.

"It is better than the last forecast said, but what is our difficulty is that Ackis is making a large deficit," says Emilie Orring (M), regional council and chairman of the Regional Board.

- In the upcoming budget process, we will have extremely tight frameworks to relate to, she says.

No tax increase

Could there be talk of raising the tax?

- No.

Why not?

Emilie Orring (M), Regional Councilor.

- When you raised the tax last time you did not work with the necessary adjustment, it is more important.

Wouldn't that still create some breathing space for you?

- No, that's not our assessment. Instead, we must work on our costs.

Annual employees

Now hard work is waiting to achieve a better result in 2020. In the long term, we hope for a budget in balance by 2022.

- We hope, above all, to stop the expansion of the number of full-time employees and bring down our investment levels. It will have the greatest impact, says Emilie Orring (M).

The neonatal ward (where premature babies are cared for) has belonged to the departments at Akademiska that sold the most care, but that was when all care places were open. Today, five out of twenty places are closed. Photo: Niklas Gedda
