Eleven son Jonas Björkman was the singles player ranked four in the world. He also achieved great success with the Swedish Davis Cup team. For a time he belonged to the world elite in both singles and doubles. In 2001, he was ranked second in the world in doubles.

He was one of four players now nominated to be elected to the Hall of Fame of tennis. However, the choice fell on Goran Ivanisevic and Conchita Martinez. Had Jonas Björkman been selected, he would have become the fifth Swedish tennis player in the company. Mats Wilander, Stefan Edberg, Sven Davidson and Björn Borg have already been in the Hall of Fame.

On Tuesday night, the two new members are honored during a ceremony in Melbourne in connection with the ongoing Australian Open.
