The former president of the Government José María Aznar has recommended today the leader of the PP, Pablo Casado, to "confront" the Government "as if Vox did not exist", but also to do so with the formation of Santiago Abascal "as if the Government it didn't exist. "

Aznar has warned of the danger that comes with the fragmentation of the center-right into three parties - PP, Vox and Citizens - and has warned that "the fragmentation inexorably condemns us to defeat" and only the union of the three parties "can reasonably lead us to the victory".

In the dialogue between Spain and the regime change , organized by the Atlantic Institute of Government and the Francisco de Vitoria University, starring Aznar and the president of the PP, Pablo Casado, the former president has blamed the Government of Mariano Rajoy for the emergence of Vox and de Ciudadanos for their "insufficient" performance to what was happening in Catalonia between 2012 and 2017.

In the opinion of the leader of the PP, "the two political forces that emerge, do so for a single reason, Catalonia." And because "an important part of the electorate" of the center-right considered as "insufficient, not sufficient or simply not representative" the action of the Rajoy Government against the independence challenge launched first by Artur Mas and then by Carles Puigdemont.

Pablo Casado has agreed with Aznar that the center-right will not be able to win the elections again if he fails to rejoin, as did Cánovas del Castillo or Aznar himself in the 90s.

To this end, the opposition leader understands that the party that directs "what he has to do is not disguise himself and not deny the past." In fact, he added that he is "reinforcing the program" of the PP, while Vox and Cs "disguise themselves as PP and chant their songs to karaoke."
