Tatyana Nikitina, head of the FAS advertising and unfair competition control department, explained that the department’s employees familiarized themselves with the commercial “Arbidola”, which was broadcast on the air.
“The drug’s instructions say that it can also be used in the fight against coronaviruses, but the claim that the drug can be used to prevent or treat 2019-nCoV coronavirus requires an additional assessment,” she said.
Currently, the department is preparing requests to clarify the circumstances, including the manufacturer of the drug, said Nikitina.
Earlier, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin ordered the creation of a coronavirus operational headquarters, which will include deputy heads of government and heads of the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Health, Rospotrebnadzor, Ministry of Emergencies, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Rospotrebnadzor was instructed to prepare a plan for two days to prevent the new virus and control its spread.
