Svedjegården is a retirement home for both the demented and the elderly with so-called special housing. There, sick leave has risen over the past year and SVT employees are in agreement that the reason is the new scheduling that was introduced just over a year ago. It has led to increased stress and reduced recovery.

Did not affect the schedule

The new schedule means, among other things, the employees work every other weekend and so-called short trips. The intention was that the employees would be able to participate in designing the schedule but that never happened, says employees with whom SVT speaks.

Now the effects are felt, both for the old and for the employees. In the video above, two of the nurses at Svedjegården tell us more about how it affects them and the old people that they will take care of.

Lost recovery

Previously, the employees at Svedjegården worked only every third weekend, which provided the opportunity for recovery according to the employees.

Staff with whom SVT has spoken state that they have repeatedly alarmed their managers, but without hearing.
