The bodies of two other French snowmobilers who fell Tuesday in the icy waters of a lake in Quebec were found Sunday, police said, without specifying their identity. The identities of the two men have not been revealed and searches are continuing to locate two missing snowmobilers. The remains were found 3 km from the starting point of the research, said the spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec, Hugues Beaulieu. “This indicates that our research is working. Abandonment (research) is not an option, ”he added.

The 7th and last localized snowmobile

The bodies, as well as that of Gilles Claude, 58, found on Friday, floated in the water, police said. Police divers had located the 7th and last snowmobile for French tourists earlier. The craft was in the area where the other six snowmobiles were located last week at the mouth of Lac Saint-Jean and the Grande Décharge. Located at the mouth of a river, east of this large lake 200 km north of Quebec City, this area freezes less or not at all because of the currents.

The group of snowmobile hikers was made up of eight tourists from eastern France. Three of them survived minor injuries and nervous shock. They left Quebec for France Thursday evening. Their guide, a 42-year-old Montrealer, died Wednesday of the tragic accident.
