We have compared the punctuality in 2019 for the Östgötapendeln, Stångådalsbanan and Tjustbanan and in the clip you will know who was the most punctual.

There were better results for Stångådalsbanan than Tjustbanan in the past year.

- The reason why punctuality is better on the Stångådalsbanan is that the Tjustbanan is a much shorter distance and that there are significantly more opportunities for train meetings than on the Stångådalsbanan, which makes it easier to pick up a delay, says Linus Åsberg, communicator Kalmar county traffic.

More track errors and speed reductions

He further explains that punctuality on the Stångådalsbanan was bad on the Stångådalsbanan during 2019, as there were many track errors and speed reductions on the route.

In 2017 and 2018, more trains were canceled on the light rail than on the Stångådalsbanan, but in 2019 there were fewer trains on the Tjustbanan than on the Stångådalsbanan, says the communicator at Kalmar county traffic.

Different times

It also differs in punctuality. While Kalmar county traffic counts the right time plus five minutes to the final station as punctual, it is the right time plus 2.59 minutes which is punctual for the Östgötap commuter. Mattias Näsström, traffic operations manager for Östgötatrafiken, thinks the comparison is unfair.

How do you make sure that the Östgötapendl ends up elsewhere?

- The Östgötap commuter is a commuter train system and Stångådal and the Tjustbanan is the train system you travel between two points. I think we have Sweden's best commuter train system since there can be individual lines that can have a good day sometimes and come up with a good punctuality. But on the whole we are the best commuter train system, says Mattias Näsström traffic operations manager Östgötatrafiken.
