55 participants entered the starting line in this year's edition of Solsta Fatbike Mattila Marathon. Of them, eleven placed in the competition class who, not unexpectedly, had Norwegians both in first and second place when the race was completed.

- This competition form is very popular in Norway and Canada. It is even held a Norwegian championship and so they are much better than the Swedes too, says Gunnel Axelsson from arranging Mattila IK.

The only race on snow

According to the organizer, the competition is the only one in Sweden where you ride so-called fatbike on snow.

- It's special. They cycle on these wider tires and it is important how much air you have in them. They constantly check the air pressure.

However, interest in the sport is increasing, as is evident in Mattila.

- It has increased every year. Last year there were 42 participants this year 55, says Gunnel Axelsson.

Won the competition made Vidar Mehl, Norway, second was Odd Erlend Hansen Berg, also Norway and in third place was found Swedish Marcus Claudelin.
