Between the years 2018 and 2019, the number of people with debts to Kronofogden in Örebro county decreased by 418 people.

At year-end, 10 166 county residents had debts with the authority. This corresponds to 4.2 per cent of the population and is slightly higher than the average of 3.8 per cent for the country as a whole.

Total debt has increased

The total debt in the county has increased from SEK 1,790 billion to SEK 1,842 billion. The figure for each county resident corresponds to SEK 57,907 per person, slightly lower than the state as a whole (SEK 58,379).

Ljusnarsberg has the largest proportion of indebted local residents in the country, with its 10.2 percent. The lowest proportion of indebted residents in the county is in Karlskoga, with its 3.5 percent.

Abolished radio and TV fee

The number of indebted persons is declining, as explained in a press release:

- First, we have granted record debt restructuring. Secondly, the debt to the state decreases, mainly as a result of the abolition of the radio and television fees, but also because fewer people receive vehicle debt and maintenance support debt. Third, the low interest rate situation and the relatively strong economic climate contribute to people being well placed to meet their financial commitments, says Johan Krantz, an analyst at Kronofogden.
