A grocer from Perpignan, in the Pyrénées-Orientales, is suspected of having engaged in drug trafficking, indicate the police services of the department. The merchant is notably accused of having concealed his illegal merchandise in cans with double bottom.

It was as part of an operation to control businesses, conducted on January 21, that the attention of the police turned to a small neighborhood grocery store: they would have surprised the manager of the store, and two "customers" , "Seated in the back room smoking a joint," stress the police.

Cannabis and cocaine

The police dog was said to have detected the presence of drugs and cash. "Thus were discovered, cleverly concealed in cans with double bottom, 296 grams of cannabis herb, 243 grams of cannabis resin, 12 grams of cocaine, all packaged in individual doses, as well as 1,500 euros", continue the police men.

The accused were arrested, and the grocery store searched. One of them was exonerated. An investigation has been opened. The manager of the grocery store, unfavorably known to the police, as well as an "acolyte", will have to answer the facts which are accused of them before the criminal court of Perpignan, next April 30.
