Emily Cwirzen, 16, started archery as late as December 2017, but already after a year and a half she won silver in her first outdoor championship.

Aims at the Olympics

And now she aims to qualify for the Olympics 2024 and 2028 and the place in the junior team's gross group is a first offspring against it.

- I think this will make me go to more international competitions and really show the world what I can, she says.

German in the Swedish national team

Emily Cwirzen is thus selected in the Swedish national team despite having a German passport.

- But my family and I are going to apply for a Swedish passport and I am very happy that the archery association brought me into the gross group when I do not yet have a Swedish passport.

She thinks that archery feels a little dangerous, but it is not dangerous for her.

- In addition, it is immediately apparent when you have improved, it is one of the nice things. It is also a very nice feeling when you pull up the bow and hit a ten with the arrow. You get really happy about it every time, says Emily Cwirzen.

"Exciting journey"

Rolf Rönnlund, chairman of Luleå Archery Society, believes that the association's decision is the start of an exciting and successful journey for Emily Cwirzen.

- We as an association are also pleased as a new generation takes the step into one of our national teams. We have had great success with shooters who have been with us before, ”he says.
