At the same time as the container "combustible" was removed on reuse 2018, the special book collection was started. The purpose was that books that were previously burned would instead be recycled, become paper and eventually become new books.
In the first year, over 900 tonnes of books were collected, in 2019 the figure reached 1011 tonnes.
- The goal was to get over a thousand. And in December we reached there, ”says Gunnar Weiring, business developer, among other things in a press release.
According to the Vafab environment, 1000 tonnes correspond to about three million books, which in turn should correspond to about ten Västerås city libraries.
