Tariffs for maritime transport fares in the Dubai Water Canal route decreased from 15 dirhams for the journey from one station to another within the path to two dirhams, with a decrease value of 86.6%, after the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority conducted a review of the transportation fees in the channel that opened in November of the year 2016.

The Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, Mattar Al Tayer, told «Emirates Today» about the authority’s intention to review the fees of maritime transport used in the Dubai Water Canal, as part of a comprehensive development plan for shipping lines and services.

During the past two years, the authority has been working on setting a comprehensive development plan for the maritime transport system to be implemented according to three phases, including adding a number of lines in different regions, and changing the destination of some other lines, so that the plan includes an adjustment to the tariffs for flights within the channel, as well as replacing the means of transportation between Stations from Al Ferry to the water bus.

The Authority attributed the reason for the relatively high price of transport tariffs in the channel, from the customers' point of view, to the lack of large numbers of passengers on the Dubai Water Canal, due to the lack of completion of installations and projects on both sides of the channel during the first years of its establishment, and because of the lack of knowledge of the lines at the time. , Which has now been replaced by the increase in the number of passengers, with the completion of projects for shops, restaurants and hotels for residents and tourists along the canal.

The Authority currently operates two shipping routes within the Dubai Water Canal, the first to travel by water bus, with prices starting from two dirhams per trip, and the track consists of five stations that include Al Jaddaf Station, Dubai District Design Station, Waterfront Station and Sheikh Zayed Road Station , And down to the Dubai Water Canal station.

The flights operate every day of the week according to four times starting at 12:15 pm and 5:45 pm, starting from Al Jaddaf station towards the Dubai Water Canal, and flights going at 3 pm and 8:30 pm from the Dubai Water station towards Al Jaddaf station.

As for the second track, it is carried through the transit and at the same prices, but only between three stations, including the waterfront station, Marassi station and Sheikh Zayed Road station, starting from 8 in the morning until 9:30, and the time of interchange depends on the number of passengers, which is determined according to the demand the service.

During the current year, sea transportation will be increased to two water buses on the first track line, and three crossings on the second track line, in order to reduce the time of distillation, and to meet the needs of service users on the mentioned lines.

Two dirhams the cost of the trip from one station to another on the Dubai Water Canal.
