The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment confirmed that the decision it made regarding delaying the period of fishing for surface fish by netting in the barber method (hedging) until the first of November instead of October 15, would contribute to maximizing the profitable benefits for fishermen working in this way, explaining that all the relevant authorities have unanimously agreed. However, early fishing in this way leads to the immaturity of the fish (the tailor and the domes) and their small size to the economic length of them, which causes economic inefficiency and low market value.

In detail, the Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Thani Bin Ahmed Al-Zyoudi, stated that the Ministry decided to delay the period of fishing for surface fish by netting the barber method (hedging) to the first of November instead of October 15, in line with the requirements of local authorities and taking into account the segment of fishermen working in this way.

In a written response to a parliamentary question for the First Vice-President of the Federal National Council, Hamad Ahmed Al-Rahoumi, regarding the reasons for delaying the period of surface fishing by barbering (hedging), the Minister confirmed that the Ministry had received several observations from local authorities concerned with fisheries affairs, accompanied by proposals requesting delay Barber fishing period, with different periods according to the ministry, pointing out that all sides have agreed in their justifications that the fish (tailors and domes) have not matured and their sizes are less than the economic length for them, which causes the economic ineffectiveness of fishing during the period that was specified in the (Bug October 15), due to the decline in market value, especially the fishing gear used in the manner mentioned non-selective fishing lead to large amounts resulting in a waste of natural arsenal which in small sizes, as happened in previous years.
