The deputy head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization, Ali Asghar Zarian, said today, Saturday, that the organization is able to enrich uranium in any proportion if the Iranian authorities take the decision.

He added in a report published by the organization on its website: "At the moment, if the Iranian authorities take the decision, the IAEA, as an outlet, is able to enrich uranium in any proportion."

Iran announced earlier this month that it would scrap the limits of uranium enrichment in a further step to reduce its commitments to the nuclear agreement it concluded with the six major powers in 2015, but added that it would continue to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Zaryan said the country’s stockpile of enriched uranium has exceeded 1,200 kilograms since it took its last step to reduce its obligations, adding that this stockpile would soon be added to the enriched uranium reserves.
