Hong Kong Chief Executive Carry Lam announced today the state of emergency due to the new Coruna virus, and took a series of measures to reduce communication between the city and the Chinese mainland to prevent the spread of the virus.

Lam said that all official visits to the mainland will be canceled, as well as official celebrations of the Lunar New Year immediately. However, she rejected calls to ban all arrivals from the mainland temporarily, and said that closing all border crossings with the mainland was impractical.
