“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia expresses solidarity with the people of Turkey, sends deep condolences to the families and friends of those who died as a result of the earthquake, and wishes a speedy recovery to the victims,” the statement reads on the website of the foreign ministry.

An earthquake of magnitude 6.8 occurred in the eastern province of Turkey, Elazig in the evening of January 24 and was felt throughout the country. After the earthquake, 35 tremors with a magnitude of 2.7 to 5.4 were recorded.

According to the latest data, 29 people were killed as a result of the earthquake.
