The cameras are intended to be placed in public places at Hässleholmen / Hulta and Norrby in Borås. There are two areas that, according to the police, are classified as particularly vulnerable.

Pia Glenvik is the project manager at NOA for camera projects. She regrets that the cameras have been delayed.

- We work hard with Borås.

Taken longer than expected

According to her, the reason for the delay is that the police are trying to reach an agreement with the property owner.

- We use their facades after all and then we have to sign agreements. That is what has dragged on over time, says Pia Glenvik.

"Creates security"

The police hope, among other things, that the cameras in Borås will help prevent and prevent crime.

- It creates extra security for the citizens living in the area. Then, of course, it is that we are given more opportunity to clear up crimes that are committed, says municipal police Anders Cronehag.

How do you view the privacy of the residents in the area?

- All camera surveillance poses a risk to personal privacy. But it offsets the increased security we see and also the opportunity to clear up serious crimes.

In the clip above you can hear about a crime where the police say the cameras had helped.
