Makogon explained that the “virtual reverse” is the process of gas exchange between GTS operators when there is no physical pumping of gas across the border.

According to Makogon, such actions will reduce the cost of pumping gas.
In December 2019, the Ukrainian GTS Operator and the Romanian Transgaz signed an agreement that will allow the supply of natural gas in reverse mode to Ukraine and further in the direction of Moldova.
