Last fall, the police were approved by the Data Inspectorate to use facial recognition to investigate crimes. It is about running face recognition against the signaling register to identify perpetrators in the forensic activity.

The National Forensic Center has previously had a pilot project in face recognition that, according to the police, has yielded positive results.

In Borås, the police are waiting for some 50 delayed surveillance cameras to be set up in the city's most vulnerable areas. Pia Glenvik is the project manager at NOA for the camera project. And according to her, the police will be able to use facial recognition from films in Borås.
