Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey provides strategic and training support to the forces of the National Accord government in Libya at its request, and because it is the legitimate authority recognized by the Security Council and the United Nations.

Erdogan asked during a press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Istanbul about the backgrounds of the implicit recognition of some countries by Khalifa Haftar and his military support by Egypt and the UAE, despite the lack of recognition by the United Nations.

He added that the countries that attended the Berlin summit in Libya on Sunday should not assist the competitor of the OS, retired Major General Khalifa Hifter after he left the meeting without signing a ceasefire agreement.

The Turkish President talked about the military support that his country is providing to the legitimate Libyan government, stressing that "Turkish soldiers provide support in the field of training activities."

He explained that this support "is a right generated by Turkey's past in Libya and the invitation extended by the Libyan government to us."

"We do not support an illegitimate party, Haftar is not recognized, so how did he obtain tacit recognition from some countries. He fled the dialogue table in Moscow, and he did not sign the text of the Berlin Agreement. He was succeeded by Egypt and the Abu Dhabi government supporting him with arms, as well as Wagner's company." .

For her part, Merkel described the situation in Libya as very fragile, and said that the political process there is going through a difficult stage, even though the clashes have decreased significantly.

It announced that the materials emanating from the Berlin conference would be approved soon by the UN Security Council.
