“China supports the initiative of Russia to host a summit of five permanent members of the UN Security Council,” the website of the Foreign Ministry quoted the diplomat as saying.
She also expressed Beijing's willingness to maintain contacts and coordination on this issue.
Hua Chunying emphasized that the five permanent members of the Security Council have a special responsibility for maintaining international peace and security.
Earlier, the UN welcomed Putin's initiative.
