It was the bank, alerted by suspicious movements, which gave the alert. A sexagenarian and her husband were arrested and placed in police custody on Monday January 20 by the gendarmes of Castelginest, in the suburbs of Toulouse, reports La Dépêche du Midi . The woman is suspected of having anticipated her inheritance by capturing in a few months 120,000 euros on the savings of her weakened mother and recently residing in a retirement home.

The couple, who had obtained power of attorney in the bank accounts, proceeded by small harmless transfers, gradually transferring the savings of the grandmother. The alleged victim, however, has a second child, who was necessarily injured by these operations.

Still according to the regional daily, the old lady's accounts were frozen pending the couple's trial, scheduled for November before the Toulouse Criminal Court.
