Rospotrebnadzor recommended that Russians refrain from traveling to China due to the outbreak of a new type of coronovirus. Citizens who decide to visit the country, the department calls for precautions, in particular, not to visit markets where seafood is sold, as well as to avoid zoos and activities involving animals.

The department reminded that the authorities of Hubei Province restricted their movement to Wuhan, imposed a ban on intercity and international flights from the Huanggang urban district, and also stopped the operation of local cinemas and bars.

From 10:00 on Thursday, January 23, ground transportation stopped working in Wuhan, ferries, subways, passenger buses do not pass into the city, RIA Novosti reports.

Later, nine more provincial cities - Chibi, Echzhou, Huangang, Xiantao, Zhijiang, Qianjiang, Huangshi, Enshi and Xianning - also announced a temporary suspension of transport links.

In turn, the Beijing authorities have introduced the highest level of emergency response. Authorities asked all residents who returned from the country's regions affected by the virus not to leave their homes for 14 days in order to prevent the further spread of the disease.

The suspension of work in the country announced several major entertainment centers. In particular, McDonald's chain of fast food restaurants has closed in five cities in Hubei. A similar decision was made by the Shanghai Disneyland theme park.

“As part of the prevention and control of an outbreak, and in order to ensure the health and safety of our guests and employees, ShanghaiDisneyResort temporarily closes Shanghai Disneyland from January 25, 2020,” the statement said.

Earlier, Rospotrebnadzor strengthened sanitary-quarantine control on all borders of Russia. In particular, at the Sheremetyevo airport, specialists check passengers who arrived from China with the help of thermal imagers and, if they detect an elevated temperature and symptoms of infection, isolate the passenger in a special room and then hospitalize in the infectious diseases hospital.

Similar measures have been taken by many international airports around the world.

In turn, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended that all countries in the world prepare for possible measures to combat the spread of the disease.

“It is expected that further international export of cases can spread to any country. Therefore, all countries must be prepared to implement containment measures, including active surveillance, early detection, isolation and case management, contact tracing and preventing the further spread of the 2019-nCoV virus infection, as well as providing complete data to WHO. ” - indicated in the application.

Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor, Honorary Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences Viktor Zuev in a conversation with RT recalled that people began to travel more often and further, which contributes to the rapid spread of the virus.

“Every infectious agent spreads at the speed of an air liner. We carry with us all the microbial and virological load that we have. And we perceive everything that we “meet”, say, in hot countries. This exchange of “infectious information” leads to the creation of new strains and the variability of existing strains, ”he explained.

The expert also recalled that many countries, including Russia, have taken serious measures to stop the spread of the disease.

“Sanitary and epidemiological services are on duty at all stations, in ports and at border crossings, which measure the temperature of arriving people, look for unhealthy people and isolate them, and if necessary, they will be hospitalized. Therefore, you don’t have to worry, ”Zuev added.

Recall that the virus was first detected in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019, after which cases of the disease were noted in Beijing, Shanghai and other major cities of the country. By January 24, coronavirus was confirmed in more than 800 people within the country. The number of deaths rose to 26. Most of the victims died in Hubei, where the first outbreak was noted, but it is reported that one person died in Heilongjiang, which borders Russia.
