• Burma: Nobel Peace Laureate Suu Kyi denies in person and before international justice, the Rohingya genocide
  • Asia: Rohingya's hell island

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Thursday ordered Burma to apply precautionary measures to protect the Rohingya Muslim minority from alleged genocide.

The UN high court decided, unanimously, to force Burma to take "all measures at its disposal" to prevent crimes against Rohingya in its territory, such as the murder of its members.

In 2017, more than 700,000 Rohingya were expelled from Burma by the National Army, a fact documented by UN researchers. The case reached the Court of Justice in The Hague in December. where Aun Sang Suu Kyi, leader of the Government and Nobel Peace Prize denied in person the genocide.

In the case, initiated by Gambia, it is argued that the Burmese Muslim minority has been the victim of repression for decades and its members are not recognized as citizens
