  • Failure: The Electoral Board disqualifies Quim Torra and removes immunity as a MEP from Oriol Junqueras

Quim Torra threatens to continue disobeying Justice after the Supreme Court has decided to keep the disqualification issued by the Supreme Court in force. "I am a deputy and president of Catalonia because the citizenship so decided and because the Parliament confirmed it: we will not back down," said the head of the Catalan Executive.

"Nothing has changed," added Torra, who thus moves all the pressure on his disqualification as a deputy to Roger Torrent. The president of the Parliament must now decide whether to allow Torra to vote in the plenary session held by the Catalan Chamber on Monday, which would imply disobeying the Supreme head on.

The Electoral Board has already ordered the Parlament more than a week ago to withdraw the act of deputy to Torra and will be granted to the next deputy of JxCat, Ferran Mascarell, but Torrent refused by relying on a report from the lawyers of the Parliament that did not deny authority to the Electoral Board to make that decision.

Torrent and Torra received the support of the PSC, but the Catalan socialists now fear the consequences of their support for the independence leaders and have asked for a new report from the legal services of the Parliament.

The PP has already decided to file a complaint against Torrent and all the members of the Catalan Chamber of Representatives that endorse the vote of Torra, which would also include those of the PSC if they do not change their mind.
