Japanese police found about 24,000 messages stacked inside a postman's house in Kanagawa Prefecture, near Tokyo, which he was supposed to deliver to their owners, after he refused to do so, citing the difficulty of his work.

The police investigation showed that Al-Sa’i, 61, had kept letters at his home for several years instead of delivering them to their owners, and that he had justified his violation of the labor law by the great hardships he faced while working.

And local media reported that the postman commented on this during the investigation, saying, "It was a great ordeal to deliver all this mail."

An internal investigation into the Postal Administration had revealed the behavior of the courier, and its officials informed the police about it, while efforts began to hand over all booked mail to its owners, with an apology to everyone who had to wait for so long to receive his letter or parcel post.
