He decided to taunt the authorities. An ex-detainee who escaped from Turnhout prison (Belgium) sent a postcard from Thailand to the prison administration. "Greetings from Thailand," Oualid Sekkaki wrote in the mail, according to the Flemish daily Het Laatste Nieuws .

With four other detainees, this 26-year-old Belgian-Moroccan escaped on December 19. He is the only one still on the run. Three of his accomplices were arrested in Belgium a few hours after the escape, and a fourth in early January in the Netherlands.

Een kaartje uit Thailand? Dat zou zelfs voor Oualid Sekkaki wel erg brutaal zijn. In dat zegt iets https://t.co/aYhWd3Kp6w pic.twitter.com/KGoP5Kh2oS

He also sends his prison badge

In his shipment received Tuesday, Oualid Sekkaki attached the badge with his name and surname, allowing him to identify himself with the prison guards. Without mentioning the country of dispatch, a spokesperson for the Belgian prison administration confirmed the receipt of "a letter" actually containing the identification badge.

Oualid Sekkaki was serving a sentence for his participation in a shooting in Belgium in the summer of 2015, according to the Flemish public channel VRT. He is now subject to an international arrest warrant. He is also the brother of Ashraf Sekkaki, nicknamed by the media "the king of escape" after fleeing from Bruges prison by helicopter in 2009.
