The death toll from the volcano eruption on White Island in New Zealand last month rose to twenty on Thursday. Two more people were missing on the island, but they have been officially declared dead by national authorities.
The two missing were a man from New Zealand and a woman from Australia, police said.
The White Island volcano erupted in early December. There were at least 47 tourists on the volcano island at the time of the eruption. Thirteen people died instantly. About thirty others were injured.
The survivors of the outbreak are still being treated in the hospital for their severe burns.
The official investigation into the eruption of the volcano will take a maximum of one year, says New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.
