World No.1 Rafael Nadal qualified Thursday for the third round of the Australian Open by defeating Argentinian Federico Delbonis (76th) 6-3, 7-6 (7/4), 6-1 in 2:30.

The 33-year-old Spaniard suffered in the second run, but "in the third set, I was more relaxed and more aggressive," he said.

Finalist in Melbourne last year and winner in 2009, he will face his compatriot Pablo Carreno (30th) on Saturday for a place in the round of 16.
