  • Business: Ayuso's assault on MWC: 109,000 attendees and an impact of 473 million

"What if we go to Madrid? There are no negotiations, meetings, or anything. Not to go to Madrid or anywhere else. We are here, in Barcelona, and we will be here in the future," said John Hoffman, CEO of GSMA, the continuity of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in the Catalan capital.

The challenge launched last week by the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso: "We will go for Mobile." The technology fair remains in Barcelona, despite the collapse of last year due to the metro strike and political instability due to the process that seriously jeopardized the 2018 edition.

In the presentation, this morning, of the MWC, which will be held from February 24 to 27, Hoffman has starred in a small Clark Kent striptease : he has taken off his jacket, tie, shirt and pants, even shoes some sports, to present the Xside, the new night event organized by Sónar and 4YFN, the parallel fair aimed at entrepreneurs and startups. When the MWC closes its doors, Fira Montjuïc will hold a microfestival (from 6 pm to 11 pm) with the Sónar: Xside brand, "the creative heart" of Mobile. Concerts, DJ sessions and conferences will star in this parallel event that not only addresses congressmen (tickets are already on sale for 40 euros). Programming highlights the performances of Richie Hawtin, Folamour, Jamz Supernova, Krueder & Dordmeister, Honey Dijon or TUTU.
