The County Administrative Board in Västerbotten yesterday confirmed the DNA analysis from the wolf that is currently in the area between Västerbotten and Norrbotten near Jörn. The wolf is one of three so-called worthy wolves that have been around in Northern Sweden for some time.

- Because it is worth protecting, it is the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency that will decide what will happen to this wolf, says Linda Backlund predator manager at the county administrative board.

The Sami village disconnected from the search

Both Svaipa sameby and Mausjaur sameby have found demolished reindeer in recent months but right now it has intensified where five reindeer have been demolished in recent days.

Robin Rannerud, who is a predator coordinator within the Mausjaur Sami village, is despairing about the situation and thinks that something must be done to protect the reindeer herd.

- But right now, we are as disconnected from the search for the wolf, the county administrative staff who totally takes care of this. But of course we want to remove the wolf from reindeer herds, he says.
