It was on October 23 last year that the magnetic camera accident occurred and the X-ray nurse suffered serious injuries when he was sucked into the magnet itself.

One patient, who was lying in for MRI examination, escaped with mere horror when the nurse came rushing and then got stuck inside the apparatus, but was rescued by a security guard.

Weight vest with metal

According to data from SVT, the accident was due to the X-ray nurse wearing a weight vest that contained some form of metal and this is something that is strictly prohibited in the vicinity of the MR camera's magnetic beams.

And that's because an accident can happen, which it did this time as well.

The explanation for the nurse's behavior is still an issue that is influenced by the preliminary investigation confidentiality, especially as he has ten years of work experience and should have known better.

But it will be clear in three weeks when environmental prosecutor Märta Warg thinks she will be done with the investigation.

- Two investigations are still underway, one about work environment crime and one about causing danger to another and we are not quite ready yet. But I can say that we have dealt with one person's suspicion of just causing danger to another, says Märta Warg.

No prosecution report

On the other hand, the Swedish Work Environment Authority's management in Norrbotten has decided not to make a prosecution report regarding work environment violations against the responsible company Aleris.

- I received this message last week and it is clear that it affects our work, but since we have done our own investigation we can actually make our own application, but we have not yet decided on how to do it, says Märta Warg.

But everything now indicates that the X-ray company Aleris does not evade prosecution for work environment violations and a possible company fine and that only the X-ray nurse will be prosecuted after the MRI camera accident.
