The alarms have jumped on Wednesday night at the English Court of Callao when the smoke from a small fire originated in a maintenance room located in the lower part of the building, next to Calle del Carmen, was introduced into the mall. Some workers and customers in the center of the ground floor have gone outside to smell burning and see some smoke. Finally, the ground floor has been evicted preventively.

The flames have started at 9:20 p.m. in a room located next to the door of the mall located on Calle del Carmen, just in front of the building that houses the FNAC, according to sources from Madrid Emergencies.

The fire has occurred when lighting an unidentified object in the outer room of the street and has been quickly stifled by maintenance personnel.

Four firefighters from the City Hall of the capital and agents of the Municipal and National Police have attended the place, as well as sanitarians from the Samur-Civil Protection on a preventive mission. One of the employees who put out the flames was assisted by doctors who administered oxygen for three minutes. Subsequently, he was discharged.

Firefighters have checked the facilities and verified that the fire had been properly extinguished by maintenance workers.
