Canal + has extended its agreement with the promoter of the Formula 1 World Championship, Formula One Management, to remain the exclusive broadcaster of the 2021 and 2022 seasons, the group announced in a statement on Tuesday.
"The CANAL + channels will once again offer full coverage each weekend with the broadcasting of the three test sessions, the qualifications and the Grand Prix", he said.
This agreement concerns not only F1 but also the lower categories of Formula 2 and Formula 3, which also run during GP weekends.
"After the recent obtaining of Ligue 1 matches as of the next school year, of the two best posters of the Champions League and of the top match of the Europa League from 2021, the renewal of the rights of Formula 1 on CANAL + is a great news for our subscribers, "said Thierry Cheleman, director of sports for Canal +, quoted in this press release.
TF1 also broadcasts four Grands Prix en clair each season since 2018, as part of a three-year agreement.
