January 22, 2020 Two different technical problems related to air bags have forced Toyota and Honda to recall over 6 million vehicles worldwide, and both problems present different dangers for motorists.

Toyota's recall affects approximately 3.4 million vehicles globally and is done because the airbags may not inflate in the event of an accident. The cars are equipped with airbag control computers made by ZF-TRW which are vulnerable to electrical interference and may not signal the inflation of the bags.

Honda's recall covers approximately 2.7 million vehicles in the United States and Canada with Takata airbag inflators. Both recalls were announced on Friday.
