The Minister of Economy informed the Chairman of the Board of the Insurance Authority, Engineer Sultan bin Saeed Al-Mansouri, the Federal National Council, that insurance companies are obliged to cover any damages suffered by the vehicles insured with them, as a result of natural disasters, such as thunderbolts, torrents and floods, in implementation of the provisions of the unified insurance policy of the insured vehicle Against the risk of loss (and mass) damage.

This came in a written response from the minister to a parliamentary question posed by the First Deputy of the President of the Federal National Council, Hamad Ahmed Al-Rahoumi, during the current Council session, regarding compensation for insurance companies for rain and torrential damage to vehicles.

The minister said: "The unified insurance policy did not exclude accidents resulting from natural disasters, due directly or indirectly," stressing that the insurance authority is constantly keen to organize awareness campaigns about the insurance policy and the rights and duties of the insured.

The Minister appealed to all the insured dealers to view the standard insurance policy, read its terms and understand its content to know the rights and duties of dealing with insurance companies.

On the other hand, the member of the National Council, asking the question, Hamad Ahmad Al-Rahoumi, was satisfied with the minister's written response, but commented to him, saying: "There is a tangible need to intensify public awareness programs and campaigns with their insurance rights, especially since once the rains fall, one question arises among millions of people that we have rights to The insurance coverage of our vehicles due to rain and torrential rain or not, so it is important for the insurance authority to provide all means to inform customers of their rights in this matter.
