No, you didn't come back in the 1990s, and yet the "Bad Boys" Will Smith and Martin Lawrence and a new Doctor Dolittle are in the top three of the North American box office, according to final figures published on Tuesday. by the specialized company Exhibitor Relations.

For its theatrical release, "Bad Boys for Life", the third installment of the famous police saga, collected $ 73 million in Canada and the United States, thanks to an apparently timeless recipe: well-felt valves between the two friends Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, embellished with spectacular explosions.

Unlike his two big brothers "Bad Boys" (1995) and "Bad Boys 2", both directed by Michael Bay, this sequel is the work of the Belgians Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.

The feature is ahead of the spectacular war film by Sam Mendes "1917", one of the Oscar favorites with ten nominations, which cashed in $ 26.9 million from Friday to Monday, a public holiday dedicated to Martin Luther King in the USA.

In third place in the ranking is another film with a taste of deja-vu, not a sequel but a remake: "Dolittle", the story of this doctor able to communicate with animals. After Rex Harrison in the 1967 version and Eddie Murphy in the more famous 1998 version, this time Robert Downey Jr. plays the good doctor.

Directed by Stephen Gaghan, this new version raised $ 28.3 million for its first (long) operating weekend.

Behind him we find "Jumanji: Next Level", with $ 12.6 million over four days, and "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" which marks time with "only" 10.6 million this weekend. The last part of the saga started in 1977 has now exceeded one billion dollars in world revenue.

Here's the rest of the Top 10:

6. "Daughters of Doctor March": 8.2 million

7. "The Way of Justice": $ 7.5 million

8. "Knives pulled": 5.3 million

9. "Like a Boss": 4.8 million

10. "Frozen 2": 5.3 million
