Faced with the absence of attackers Ousmane Dembélé and Luis Suarez, Barcelona "plans" to recruit a scorer during the transfer window in January, said his coach Quique Setién on Tuesday.

"We are considering it (...) We are talking about it but we have to think about it a bit more," said the Catalan technician, appointed last week to replace Ernesto Valverde.

"This is a subject on which the sports management will have to look in detail," added Setién, who said he was focused on the next matches in the King's Cup and the Liga.

Deprived of Ousmane Dembélé, injured in the thigh, since the end of November, Barça coach lost in January Luis Suarez, absent for four months following a knee operation.

To occupy the center of the attack, he can line up Antoine Griezmann or Lionel Messi.

But the physical impact of the French in the axis is less than that of Suarez, while the Argentine prefers to play on the right.

Like other pillars of the Catalan eleven, "la Pulga" (the chip) could also be left to rest Wednesday against Ibiza, in the round of 32 of the King's Cup.

"Broadly speaking, I have my idea about it, but I still have to see what is going on in training and how we can build a competitive and balanced team," said Setién.

The new format of the King's Cup, according to which the sixteenths are played on a match and no longer on a return trip, makes any underperformance prohibitive and could weigh in the decision of the technician compared to the sixfold Golden Ball.
