Outside Örsundsbro, he has since 2004 produced the prizes handed over to the winners during the film gala. The more than a kilo of heavy gold beetles require careful work and before each year Patrik Sandell creates about 25 bags of copper. He likes the job well and this is one of all the assignments he works with during the year.
- It's great fun, especially when it's this time of year when it's not fun to be out and work. It's a great winter job, I think, says Patrik Sandell.
In total, he has hammered out over 300 bags in his workshop. A workshop in which he is the third generation in the family to work with sheet metal warehouse. He is currently halfway through the time-consuming work on next year's awards.
- It is 17 to 18 hours per bag. Just making a foot and the antennae that sit on the eyes - it takes quite a long time, he says.
The Goldbag gala is organized each year by the Film Institute to pay tribute to Swedish film. It was a friend of Patrik Sandell who made him try to put the prize together.
- He who had made them earlier had copper allergy and could not continue. Then I made a baggage and it was approved, he says.
Despite the fact that Patrik Sandell is invited to the Goldbag gala every year, he has only gone once.
Does it matter to you who gets the Gold Bag?
- No, it doesn't really matter. But it was fun when Gösta Ekman got his honorary gold badge. It was one of my favorite actresses. So it was fun, says Patrik Sandell.
