- The Swedish Transport Administration, together with the municipalities along the railway line, has made a power gathering to see how the Ostlänk can be built without increasing costs. The investigation shows that the costs can only be marginally reduced if it does not have major consequences for the function of the railway, says Einar Schuch, regional director at the Swedish Transport Administration in a press release.

According to the Swedish Transport Administration, it is primarily other solutions for handling surplus masses that can reduce costs by a total of about SEK 1 billion.

In the current plan for transport system financing, Ostlänk has funding of approximately SEK 54 billion. In April last year, the Swedish Transport Administration found that the current proposal for the Ostlänk could be more than SEK 10 billion more expensive.
